The Virginmarys - The Answer to Our Prayers

The Virginmarys are a garage rock trio from Macclesfield, a city next to Manchester, in England. Same city where Ian Curtis, singer and songwriter of the iconic post-punk band Joy Division, was raised. Lot less psychedelic and much heavier than the Curtis band, The Virginmarys has been influenced by the 1970's hard rock and the late 1990's Seattle grunge, specially Nirvana which was declared by the band members as a true inspiration.

The Virginmarys' actual formation have Ally Dickaty on vocals and guitar, Danny Dolan on drums and Matt Rose playing the bass guitar. Rose assumed Chris Birdsall's (2006/2008) position in 2009 after the founding member left the band. Their songs are about real life situations like the consequences of wrong decisions ("Dead Man's Shoes") and anti-capitalist themes ("You've Got Your Money").

During an extensive routine of shows that includes supporting acts for artists such as Slash and Queens of Stone Age and a slot on Download Festival the band has recorded and released a series of EP's and as a result of their hard work they've built a huge fan base. In 2013 they've released their debut album "King of Conflict" and in the same year was awarded the Best Breakthrough by Classic Rock magazine.
